Why a speed pedelec over a normal e-bike?
There is plenty of advantages of riding a speed pedelec over a normal bike or e-bike. The two main advantages are of course the speed and the battery range. If you commute to and from work on a daily basis, a speed pedelec can be ideal. It will allow you to ride home fast at up to 45km/h and to charge the battery only once a week depending on your riding distance and style.

How far can I ride on a full battery?
This largely depends on conditions and your route. Factors like headwinds, hills, cold weather, the total weight of the Opium and its rider, and especially the average speed you ride all affect the range. Therefore, we recommend focusing on battery capacity instead of range when comparing e-bikes. With Opium's 1,400Wh or 1,600Wh battery, you can ride up to 200km or 230km respectively, on a single charge. With our 2,135WH battery system, you can ride up to 300km. If you ride with high assistance and at high speeds, your range will drop. In cold weather with strong headwinds and many hills, the range can fall as well to as low as 40-50km.

How much maintenance does an Opium bikes require?
" Opium bikes are designed for minimal maintenance, utilizing low-maintenance components. The belt drives and sealed hubs are maintenance-free, requiring only occasional cleaning with low-pressure water. Always use a low-pressure jet when cleaning the bike to avoid damaging the seals. For optimal performance, we recommend a maintenance check at your local Opium dealer once every 10,000 km or about once a year. **Do I need to take out insurance for my speed pedelec?**
"In Belgium, it is not mandatory to take out insurance for a speed pedelec as long as the e-bike only provides electric assistance when you are pedaling. This is the case with all Opium models, so insurance is not mandatory for Opium. In Switzerland and Germany an insurance is compulsory and you need to register a license plate for your Speed Pedelec"
