Two batteries, one charge.

A 1,600 Wh main battery and a 535 Wh range extender, together giving up to 300 km of assistance at 45 km/h. Zurich to Bern and back, without range anxiety.

300 km is not a commuting number. It is the number that makes a Saturday open-ended, and it is the number that lets a rider with a 60 km round trip charge once a week instead of once a night. Either way, the planning goes away.

Quiet and powerful: Opium hub motor

Strong, silent, and ready for anything.

A 1000 W rear-hub motor with assistance to 45 km/h, built for torque without the noise. Climbing or cruising, the response is instant and the delivery is the same on every ride.

Consistency is what a long-range bike is for. The motor is tuned to give the same assistance for the same effort all day, so the rider sets the pace and the bike holds it.

Sealed in the rear hub, with nothing exposed to the weather and nothing that needs adjusting on the road.

Twelve-speed electronic gearbox

Twelve speeds, no compromise.

The Pinion C1.12 electronic, on a Gates carbon belt: twelve electronic speeds and a 600% range. Gears change in an instant — accelerating under load, or rolling to a stop.

An exposed chain and cassette covering 300 km a week would be a consumable. This is not. No chain to stretch, no cassette to wear, no derailleur to knock out of line, and a belt that needs neither lubrication nor re-tensioning.

Service attention comes round about every 10,000 km or about once a year.

Intelligent power management

2,135 Wh, perfectly allocated.

FIT sits between the 2,135 Wh battery and the 1000 W motor and decides, continuously, how much power is delivered. It reads cadence, gradient and load, and it adjusts several times a second.

Fine-tuning the power is what turns 2,135 Wh into up to 300 km. A motor given a fixed level of assistance spends charge on gradients that did not need it; a motor managed against the actual load does not.

There is nothing to configure. FIT is working from the first pedal stroke, and the only evidence of it is the range you have left at the end of the week.

Eight adjustable positions

Set the bike to the rider.

The ergonomic cockpit adjusts through up to eight positions, so the bike is set to the rider rather than the rider to the bike.

The lighting, the brakes and the mirror are integrated rather than added, which is why none of them spoils the line of the bike. You choose between a wireless charger Quad Lock mount and the large FIT comfort display.

Over a 25 km commute, position is what decides whether you arrive comfortable.

Rigid or suspension fork

Composed handling, your choice of feel.

A rigid fork as standard for direct road feedback, or an optional suspension fork for mixed surfaces.

On a long distance commuter bike this is a decision worth thinking about. Vibration is what accumulates over a long ride: it is not the hills that end a ride early, it is the hours of road buzz through the bars and into the hands and shoulders.

Either way: confident steering, and a bike that feels the same in the fifth hour as it did in the first.

From the adjustable cockpit with eight ergonomic positions to the FIT controls, every detail on the Model S-LR Smart.Shift is there to support the ride without asking for attention.

On long distance commutes, the adjustable cockpit ensures you are comfortable. The integrated Supernova lighting, hydraulic disc brakes with 203 mm rotors and a standard rearview mirror keep you visible and stable, kilometre after kilometre.

Mudguards with integrated pannier rack

Sleek, silent utility.

The Model S-LR Smart.Shift's mudguards double as a pannier rack, built around Ortlieb's QL3 mounting interface, with the light cable concealed inside the structure.

QL3 is the detail worth knowing. The hardware fits seamlessly onto the rack, so a pannier goes on and comes off without tools, and nothing is left hanging when the bag is not there.
