Model C enters series production in Switzerland

Series production of the Model C has started at Opium in Fehraltorf, six months after the bike was first shown at Velofollies in January.

Every Opium is designed, painted and assembled in Switzerland. The paint shop and the assembly line are in the same building, which is how the 18-colour range is possible without long lead times.

The Model C is the urban commuter in the range. It assists up to 45 km/h and is offered in Diamond Frame and Low Entry, each with the Smart.Shift electronic gearbox or a mechanical drivetrain.

Swiss assembly is unusual in this industry. Most bikes sold in Europe arrive as finished frames from elsewhere. Building in Fehraltorf keeps the paint, the build and the final quality check in one place.

The Model C is available now through Opium dealers.
